fic_rush ! We should do this for term papers some time, it works wonders. :P
Title: Meddling
Characters: 1st Doctor, Susan, the TARDIS
Spoilers: None.
Rating: G
Word count: 200
Summary: The TARDIS takes the Doctor and his granddaughter to an unimportant, special planet.
Meddling
It was a planet like any other. 70% water with two big landmasses, the indigenous population split into a great number of countries and cultures. The year was 1963, meaning the inhabitants were moderately advanced, but primitive compared to higher civilizations in the universe, and certainly inadequate for a Time Lord and his granddaughter.
"Why did we land here, grandfather?" the young girl asked curiously. She was obviously expecting a reason for going to this planet; to witness a terrible war, perhaps, or the crowning of a great king.
"I don't know, my child," came the answer, "but the ship appears to have blown a few circuits upon our landing. I will have to repair them before we can leave."
The girl's face fell in disappointment, and as though to quell her enthusiasm further, the old man added "There is nothing remarkable about this planet, you know. Hardly worth our time."
As the pair left Totter's Lane to get their bearings and the young girl eyed a few school children nearby with interest, the ship in the junkyard quietly overloaded another piece of machinery that was vital to their departure.
The TARDIS always knows what she is doing, after all.
